Massage Therapy

Massage

At Connect Spinal Health, we offer Sports Massage Therapy either to support your chiropractic care or as a therapy on its own.

Massage perfectly assists the healing potential of chiropractic. Our sports massage is chiropractic led and there is close communication between your chiropractor and massage therapist to discuss treatment and what areas to focus on to compliment your overall care plan.

We also frequently book in new clients to the clinic purely for sports massage therapy. Again, you will get a full assessment and our massage therapist will consider an appropriate care plan for you and your needs.

As a new service to the clinic our massage practitioner will also offer other modailities, where appropriate:

  • Mobilisation: Your massage therapist uses passive and accessory mobilisations of peripheral joints to treat mechanical pain and stiffness. There are five grades. The mobilisations create movement within the joints of the spine/limbs which reduces stiffness and makes movement easier.
  • Cupping: Cupping therapy is a type of treatment that treats the soft tissue, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. It can also be used to target trigger points, scar tissue and promotes lymphatic drainage. Cupping is highly effective with athletes and sports people however, it is made for anyone. It has a suction like feeling when placed on the body, however this feeling disappears after a few seconds. After the treatment, marks may appear on the body. This is blood vessels under your skin which give a bruise like appearance which fades within a week or two.
  • Kinesiology: Kinesiology tape aids in the movement of muscles and provides support for joints to help reduce pain and swelling. It is a thin flexible tape that is used by anyone to help muscle function.
  • Tapping
  • Electrotherapy: A TENS machine is a small device that is attached to pads and then attached to the body. Small electrical pulses are sent into the muscle to help reduce pain and helps create a muscular contraction within muscles that are not firing or working efficiently.
  • Injury rehabilitation

If you are unsure about what care you need, please ask one of the team and we can advise you.
